Annoying Outlook Appointment Responses
This one is all about those annoying response messages we
get when we create an appointment in Outlook and the invitees don’t care enough
about us to choose not to send a response.
Yes, you can choose to accept
a meeting and not respond to the sender.
Not that anyone pays attention to that option – ever. No electronic
etiquette at all. Miss Manners would not
approve.
But that’s okay.
There’s a way around the bad manners.
You just turn off the ability of the receiver to respond. How?
In the meeting request, you want
to change the “Response Options.”
Click the “Request Responses” option so that the check mark goes away and it looks like this:
Then send it. You should not receive any more responses accepting, declining, tentatively accepting, proposing new times, or even a snarky snotgram. And the annoying responses won’t clog up our email servers, either.
This doesn’t mean that some prankster won’t respond anyway – they can still annoy you if they really want to – but it should prevent the automatic replies from 138 people you didn’t want to hear from in the first place.
