How to connect to your work PC from a Windows PC

 

Things to do at work:

1.       Get name of your PC and take home with you.

a.       Press the Windows key and Pause key to bring up System Properties: note the Computer Name. Write down the response exactly. Close window 

b.       Press Windows and R keys together, type cmd and press Enter. Type   Hostname and press Enter. Write down the response exactly. Close window

 

 

From Home PC, manual configuration:

 

1.       . Start the Remote Desktop application and expand OPTIONS

 


 

 

2.       Select the ADVANCED tab then click the SETTINGS button under “Connect from anywhere”


 

3.       Select the “Use these RD Gateway server settings” radio button and fill in:

 

Server name: remote.wsh-law.com
Logon method: Ask for password (NTLM)
Ensure “Bypass RD Gateway server for local settings” is checked
Tick “Use my RD Gateway credentials for the remote computer


 

 

4.       Click OK then click options to contract the screen and return to the connection screen.

 


 

Enter the Computername you brought home and then click Show Options

5.      Click Save As, Click your Desktop as a location to save and give the connection file a name. Now you will be able to run it directly from your Desktop with a double-Click

 


 


 

 


 

6.        Click Connect, at security screen enter WSHADMIN\”YOUR username” and your password, and click OK

 


 

Please be aware that the connection process may take up to one minute, depending on your internet connection speed.

During this process, a secure SSL tunnel is being created.

7.       Put check mark “Don’t ask me again…” and click Yes

 


 

8.       Your work desktop should open. Be aware during this process you may be asked twice to Enter your credentials. When done logoff\disconnect your work pc and the RDP session will close
